Beraní

Beraní is an elevated hamlet in the municipality of Rialp, in Pallars Sobirà, located 6.4 km from the village. It is reached via the C-13 road towards Esterri d’Àneu. Just after Rialp, after crossing the bridge over the Noguera Pallaresa, you must take the turning on the right towards Beraní, Roní and Port Ainé. Following this road, a second turning on the right leads directly to the village.
At an altitude of 1,083 metres, Beraní overlooks the left bank of the Noguera.
More than one kilometre southwest of the village are the remains of Sant Joan de Colinos, a 10th-century Romanesque chapel now in ruins. This chapel formed part of the vanished village of Colinos, one of the various settlements that once occupied the Sobac mountain.
At the end of the 14th century, three villages on this mountain — Sant Poni, Colinos and Vilamflor — disappeared completely, while the rest became severely depopulated. Until 1904, Sant Joan de Colinos belonged ecclesiastically to Rodés; from that year onwards, it became part of the parish of Rialp.
As a witness to its past, we find the old church of Sant Serni, restored externally in 2015.
The village preserves a deeply rooted heritage of customs linked to farming, livestock and transhumance, which for centuries have defined the everyday rhythm of the territory.
Beraní is a great starting point for discovering the landscapes of the Alt Pirineu Natural Park, with its rich wildlife and forests. Just a few kilometres away, the ski slopes of Port Ainé offer sporting activities throughout the winter.
